Northside Noir, Chris Stark at Homewood
What: On Sunday, April 27, an original radio drama about the North Side in the 1960s written by Christina Ham, accompanied by original music by local musician/composer John Penny, will be performed live and broadcast at the Dakota Jazz Club. In conjunction with this event, Kevin Barns of KBEM-FM, the visionary behind Northside Noir, has invited Homewood Studios (2400 Plymouth Ave. N) to create an exhibition by Northside artists from several generations and cultural backgrounds to show art which reflects their sense of what it means to be a Northsider. There will be an artists’ panel and gallery talk on Tuesday, April 22, 7 p.m., a reading by Northside Writers on Tuesday, April 29, 7 p.m., and a Musical Evening presented by John Penny on Tuesday, May 6, 7 p.m. May 15-25, the gallery will host a show by Chris Stark. Homewood also hosts the Northside Writers Group, which meets monthly, usually the second Thursday of the month at 7 p.m. And the Homewood Tai Chi group meets Saturdays, 9-10:30 a.m. For more information, including updated details on gallery events, call 612-587-0230, or visit
