Northeast Senior Services

What: Northeast Senior Services offers resources and activities to seniors aged 60+, including legal advice, foot care, exercise classes, and workshops. Most services and activities are offered at 2510 Cleveland St. NE (Northeast United Methodist Church). Senior Morning in the Park, Thursdays, 10-11:30 a.m. at Windom Park, Lowry Ave. NE and Johnson St. NE. Take a walk, play a game (horseshoes, checkers, scrabble & others), enjoy coffee and treats, chat with seniors from the community. NE Seniors and Windom Park co-host this event. Event is free; donations for treats accepted. (No meeting on July 4th.)

NE Senior Housing Tour, Thursday, June 13; (reserve by June 10 at 612-781-5096). Learn about and look at senior housing options in the NE area. Tour RiverVillage, Meadowood Shores, Chandler Place and Monroe Village. Lunch and transportation provided.

Hearing Aid Cleaning: Thursday, June 20, 1-3 p.m. at 2580 Kenzie Terrace. Free services offered: Clean & check, otoscopy (visual check of ear canal), hearing aid information, hearing screening; a small charge may apply to minor repairs, and to battery or accessory purchases. Call 612-781-5096 for an appointment. Service provided by Roger Mann, Sonus Hearing.

Foot Care Clinic: Nail clipping and other foot care is provided by a nurse from Quality Foot Care. Call NE Seniors 612-781-5096 to sign up/request a ride. Cost: $30. Monday, June 17, 1-2:30 p.m. at 2510 Cleveland St. NE; Thursday, June 20, 10 a.m.-noon at Autumn Woods, 2580 Kenzie Terrace.

Exercise Especially for Seniors: Mondays, 1-1:40 p.m at 2510 Cleveland St. NE. Exercise sitting on a chair, standing and balance moves, easy marching, dyna-band strength work. Easy, gradual progression. Just stop by to try out the class; first class is free. Instructor Sara Tufvesson Doure has taught Seniors Staying Fit at Pratt School for 19 years, has a bachelor’s degree in Corporate Fitness, and has been a Personal Trainer since 1983. Fee: Donations appreciated.

Coffee & Conversation: Wednesdays, 2-4 p.m. at the Perkins, 696 W County Road D, New Brighton. Just stop by. You pay for the food you order; lively conversation is free.

Free Legal Clinic for seniors (age 60+) with real estate related issues: Individual appointments with a real estate attorney from Lindquist & Vennum to discuss real estate related issues. Call 612-781-5096 for information.
