Free tax preparation for seniors and lower income persons begins February at North Regional Library and Oak Park Center. Trained and certified AARP Tax-Aide Volunteers will help with personal income tax, rent credit, property tax refunds and other tax issues. These are IRS authorized E-File locations. Bring a photo ID, Social Security cards for yourself and your family, and tax documents from employers, pensions, banks, etc. If you are a renter, bring the 2013 CRP certificate from your landlord. If you are a homeowner, bring your property tax statement payable in 2014. Bring last year’s tax return and anything else you think may be important.
Free tax preparation at Oak Park Center, 1701 Oak Park Ave. N., is available Mondays, Feb. 3-April 14, 10 a.m.-1 p.m. (except Presidents Day, Feb. 17). Call 612-377-7000 for an appointment. Appointments will get preference but walk-ins are accepted if Tax-Aide Counselors are available.
Free tax preparation at North Regional Library, 1315 Lowry Ave. N., is available Saturdays, Feb. 1-April 12, 10 a.m.-1 p.m. and Wednesdays, Feb. 5-April 9, 10 a.m.-1 p.m., on a first come first served basis.
