MN artists will take to the stage to share their experience about the ups and downs of entertainment, Thursday, April 24, 6 p.m., at the historic Capri Theater, 2027 West Broadway Ave. The event opens with a meet and greet with the artists, followed by a panel discussion. The panel will be moderated by KFAI’s Brenda Bell Brown; panelists include Shed G, Da Black Pearll, Natonia J’Sont, Tre Jackson, Dotzilla, Lee Jordan, and Pete Rhodes. MN Artists on the Move will feature musical guest Chantal SinGs, and a special performance by gospel Hip Hop artist, Tha Corinth. Everyone is a star for Starry Night

Every year, DeLaSalle High School hosts a one of a kind prom event entitled "Starry Night." The prom draws crowds from across the Twin Cities and is for persons living with disabilities. For the third consecutive year, The Beauty Lounge Minneapolis with the help of students from the Aveda Institute, will donate hair and makeup services to those attending the prom. Services will be performed at the Beauty Lounge Minneapolis, 20 University Ave. NE. Prom takes place on Saturday, May 3, at DeLaSalle High School. There are still limited spaces available. Hennepin County Courts will offer a community listening session entitled, "Tell it to the Judge," Thursday, May 1, 5-6:30 p.m. at the Urban Research and Outreach/Engagement Center (UROC), 2001 Plymouth Ave. N, Room 105. The intent of this event is to provide an opportunity for community members to share thoughts, concerns, and experiences with the Hennepin County Courts. Judges and court staff court staff would like to hear from constituencies who have interacted with the court system directly (or have friends/family who have interacted with the court system) to hear what is and isn’t working in regards to "user-friendliness," "quality of service," and "perception of fair treatment." This feedback will help the courts strive to ensure citizens’ needs are met and that his or her rights are respected when interacting with the Hennepin County Court System.

Jazz radio station Jazz88 KBEM 88.5 FM will host its original radio drama series "Jazz Noir" in front of a live audience from the Dakota Jazz Club in downtown Minneapolis on Sunday, April 27, with shows at 5 and 9 p.m. The 9 p.m. performance will be broadcast live on Jazz 88.5 FM. Jazz Noir is an original radio drama series complete with live voice actors and musicians in front of a studio audience, just like in the days of radio’s infancy. The next episode is an original radio drama in which playwright Christina Ham has been commissioned to explore the rich North Minneapolis jazz scene of the 1960s and will collaborate with composer John Penny who will create and perform an original jazz music score for the drama. Ed Jones, veteran actor and Jazz88’s morning show host will direct the production. In addition, George Roberts at Homewood Studios in North Minneapolis will be curating and presenting a gallery show featuring Northside artists reflecting on themes from that period that will be on view concurrent with the production. The East Minneapolis Exchange Club is hosting a Community Baby Shower to benefit organizations that work to prevent child abuse. During the month of April (Child Abuse Prevention Awareness Month) the group will be collecting new, unused baby items for organizations that work to prevent child abuse and support families with young kids and babies. Donations can be dropped off at Pacifier (310 East Hennepin Ave., City Center Skyway, 4942 France Ave. S.), or at Siwek Lumber, 2536 Marshall St. NE. There are also two online registries where you can see some suggestions of items needed: www.pacifier.com (search ’baby shower’ in last name), and www.thethingsiwant.com/communityregistry/list/wishlist/. Sign up for a new road race! The "Run Camden 5K" is to be held on Saturday, May 10, in North Minneapolis to support Webber Camden Neighborhood Organization programming. All ages and abilities are invited to come run (or walk) the 5K route (about 3 miles), starting and ending at Patrick Henry High School. The cost is $20 if you sign up before April 15, and there is a discounted entry fee option for families.
